Consultancy · GA4 done properly

Google Analytics consultancy that fixes the numbers, not the slides

Dolphin Analytics is a Google Analytics consultancy for agencies and in-house marketing teams. We set up GA4 and Google Tag Manager, find the faults in setups that already exist, and reconcile what GA4 says against your ads, your store and your CRM. Every fix is proved against source data before we call it done, and you keep the access, the documentation and the setup at the end.

Does this sound familiar?

The same data problems come up for almost every marketing team we meet, agency-side or in-house. They usually sound like this.

“We don't know if our tracking is right”

GA4 says one thing, Meta Ads says another and Shopify says a third. Nobody can explain the gaps, so nobody fully trusts any of the numbers.

“We can't prove ROI”

The board wants to know what marketing returned. The dashboards claim plenty, the bank account says less, and there's no defensible number in between.

“We're sitting on tonnes of data and still can't answer basic questions”

The data exists, somewhere, across GA4, the ad platforms, the CRM and the store. Linking it into one answer is the part nobody has time for.

If any of these sound like your week, talk to us: send a message, or book a call straight away.

What we actually do

The concrete work behind the pillar, in plain terms.

GA4 and Tag Manager set-up

A clean GA4 property and Tag Manager container built around the actions that matter to you. Key events, Consent Mode and the ad platform links configured and tested before launch.

Audit of an existing set-up

We work through data collection, events, Consent Mode, reconciliation and reporting in order. You get a written findings report naming each fault, its impact and the fix.

Fixes and reconciliation

Broken events, double counting, half-migrated containers, GA4 that disagrees with the store. We repair it in your own container and prove the fix against source data.

Ongoing consultant cover

Someone senior to call when the site changes, a campaign launches or the numbers move and nobody knows why. Scoped monthly, documented as we go.

The faults we get called in for

The call usually comes after someone has stopped trusting the numbers. GA4 says one thing, the ad platform says another, the store says a third, and nobody can explain the gap. Conversions vanished after a site change. Direct traffic doubled for no reason. The board asked what marketing returned and the honest answer was "it depends which report you open".

Most of these trace back to the same few causes. Consent Mode set up wrong or not at all. A Tag Manager container half migrated from Universal Analytics. A checkout or platform change that dropped the dataLayer. Missing UTM tagging that sends paid traffic into the direct bucket. Key events that count the wrong thing. We set up, audit and fix GA4 and Tag Manager for agency and in-house clients most weeks, and these five come up again and again.

The fix is rarely a single toggle. It is knowing which of the five you have, in what order to repair them, and how to prove the repair worked without waiting a month for the data to settle.

How a consulting engagement runs

We start with access: read-only on GA4 and Google Tag Manager for the diagnosis, and read-only on the ad platforms. Editor rights come later, once fixes are approved. We also need a view of the store or CRM you want the numbers to match. Then we diagnose. Every event, trigger and variable gets checked against what actually fires on the site, and GA4 gets reconciled against a source of truth such as Shopify orders or CRM deals.

That diagnosis is our paid audit, scoped and quoted before it starts. You get a written findings report that names each fault, what it is costing you and what the fix involves. If you want us to do the fixing, we do it in your own container, prove each change against live data, and document what changed and why. If your team prefers to fix it themselves, the report is written so they can.

At the end you own everything: the access, the container, the documentation. Some clients stop there. Others keep us on as consultant cover for the weeks when something changes and nobody in-house has time to work out why.

Proof, not promises

For a private aviation client, 88.6% of deal contacts had no web attribution until we mapped the tracking end to end across three domains and their CRM. Every enquiry source became visible, and the marketing team could finally say which channels brought deals rather than which brought sessions.

For a subscription box brand, the ad platform claimed 6.9x the revenue the store actually recorded. Once we reconciled the two, the real return on ad spend was 4.7x rather than the 32.8x the dashboard showed, and the channel was still profitable. The point of consulting is not to make the numbers smaller. It is to make them true, so budget decisions stop being guesses.

The same discipline runs through everything we do. Insights we uncovered in Toyota's analytics increased app sign-ups by 67%. When a Shopify checkout upgrade broke a client's conversion tracking, we restored it within 48 hours and avoided an estimated $1.5M in wasted ad spend. For Incisive Media, our reporting work saved around £100k and 2,600 hours a year.

What Google Analytics consulting costs

We scope and quote per property before any work starts. The quote depends on three things: how many GA4 properties and Tag Manager containers are involved, how much is broken, and whether you want a one-off diagnosis and fix or ongoing cover. The same symptom can be a day on a simple site and a week on a multi-domain setup with a CRM behind it, so we do not publish a rate card.

What you will not get is an open-ended day rate with no end date. Every quote says what is included, what you get back and when. The intake conversation sets the scope, and the quote is agreed before any work starts.

Built for agencies, trusted by in-house teams

Agencies white-label us as their analytics arm. We work inside your client's GA4 and Tag Manager under your brand, fix what is broken, and give you the written record to show the client. That turns a tracking problem you were absorbing into work you can bill for.

In-house teams use us directly, usually because paid media is spending against conversions nobody fully trusts, or because the one person who understood the setup has moved on. We fix the setup, explain it in plain words and leave your team able to run it.

Talk to us first

Tell us what GA4 is getting wrong in a message, or book a 30-minute call straight away. Either way you hear from a person: a message gets a considered view of what is probably broken and what fixing it would involve within one working day. No sales script to sit through, and no obligation to go further.

Sonar is the other way in. Run your site through it if you want evidence before we talk. It scans from the outside, the way a visitor's browser sees the page, and reports the tags, pixels and consent setup it can prove are running. Then bring the result to the conversation and we will take it from there.

In their words

What the teams we work with say

Agencies and in-house teams we plug into as their analytics bench, on what it's like to have us on the team.

Partnering with Dolphin Analytics resonates with us because it gives us extra capacity with heavily fluctuating demand in this current climate around new tracking implementation technologies. It's the offering of dealing with experts with a no-fuss approach. They're so valuable, solving our biggest pain points by providing on-demand expertise. In any agency setting there is always a lack of capacity for niche skilled expertise, and Dolphin Analytics provides that.
Alan Ng Chief Innovation Officer, Connective3 Marketing agency, 150 people
Working with Dolphin Analytics has been a pleasure. Olam and his team were brought on to help us work through client issues outside our usual area of operations. Their team worked seamlessly alongside Axon Garside for our clients. They led the project, identifying the solution swiftly, before developing the fix and completing the jobs rapidly. Dolphin Analytics' communication was great throughout, keeping my team updated. This is the beginning of a fruitful business relationship between both businesses.
Spencer Montagu Marketing Director, Axon Garside B2B marketing agency, 20 people
Olam and his team joined us when our product analytics was still in its infancy. Within weeks they'd resolved a host of issues with our Heap events and reports, giving us a much clearer picture of how customers used the platform. They then helped our product and UX team embed a framework for experimentation, so we could validate ideas and deliver value far more quickly: a real step change in how we build products. Olam is a genuine people person, and his collaborative approach was hugely appreciated. I extended the engagement numerous times and am hugely grateful for the change he helped enact.
Jack Levy Head of Product, Preqin In-house product team
Data can be complex and, more often, it is made unnecessarily so by the people within it. However, Dolphin Analytics' skill is in understanding what's possible, what's necessary, and making that easily understood and implemented. It's rare to have such consistently good and reliable data expertise, but Dolphin Analytics always delivers.
Dino Myers-Lamptey Managing Director, Mediahub Marketing agency, 500 people
Dolphin Analytics joined our team and quickly became a valuable asset that we wanted to extend onto other projects. They are able to think critically, stay solutions-oriented, and know how to work with others, bringing their expertise and point of view on data and analytics. Beyond the technical skill across various analytics tools, they have broad experience with different types of analysis, which makes them able to step up to different challenges.
Payam Cherchian Data & Analytics Director, AKQA (now EssenceMediacom) Web & design agency, 40 people
We turned to Dolphin Analytics when we had a data project we needed specialist input on. The team took time to understand our challenges, ambition and the nuances of our business to propose a bespoke solution. They broke down complex processes in a way we could communicate across our teams and clients to build into our roadmap.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Google Analytics consultant actually do?

We set up GA4 and Google Tag Manager, find and fix faults in setups that already exist, and reconcile GA4 against your ads, your store and your CRM so the numbers can be trusted. Most engagements start with a diagnosis and end with a documented setup you own. We do this for agency and in-house clients most weeks.

Do we need a GA4 consultant, or can our team run it in-house?

If your numbers already match sales and someone in-house owns measurement, you probably don't need us yet. Hire a consultant when GA4 disagrees with the ad platforms or the store, when paid media depends on clean conversions, or when nobody owns the setup. We can do the fix and hand it back, or stay on as cover.

How much does Google Analytics consulting cost?

We scope and quote every engagement per property before any work starts, so you know the number up front. The quote depends on how many properties and containers are involved, what is broken, and whether you want a one-off fix or ongoing cover. We don't publish a rate card because the same fault can be a day's work on one site and a week on another.

When is a Google Analytics consultant the right route?

When the job is bounded and expert: a diagnosis, a rebuild, a second opinion on a setup you already run, or cover for a team that has lost its analytics person. We keep senior people on the work and leave a written record of every change, so you are never dependent on us. If it grows into several properties, the same people carry on as an agency engagement.

Can you work inside our agency's client accounts?

Yes. Agencies white-label us as their analytics arm. We work inside your existing GA4 and Google Tag Manager access, under your brand, with access your client has approved and your name on the work. One agency resold our fix at a 40% markup.

What do you need from us to start?

Read-only access to GA4 and Google Tag Manager for the diagnosis. Editor access comes later, once you approve fixes. We also need a read-only view of the ad platforms and the store or CRM you want reconciled, and one person who can answer questions about the site. We give you the timeline with the quote.

Do you cover Google Analytics 360 and BigQuery?

Yes. Our founder has run GA4, Google Analytics 360 and BigQuery side by side for agency and in-house clients. If you are deciding whether 360 is worth it, or your GA4 export to BigQuery has stopped matching the interface, that is inside the work we do.
