GA4 setup service · validated before launch

A GA4 setup built once, validated before launch

Dolphin Analytics is a GA4 setup service for agencies and in-house marketing teams. We build your GA4 property and Google Tag Manager container from a tracking plan, with key events, Consent Mode and ad platform links configured. We test every piece against source data before your site goes live, rather than trusting a tag that fired once in preview. You keep the account, the container and the documentation once we hand it over.

Does this sound familiar?

The same data problems come up for almost every marketing team we meet, agency-side or in-house. They usually sound like this.

“We don't know if our tracking is right”

GA4 says one thing, Meta Ads says another and Shopify says a third. Nobody can explain the gaps, so nobody fully trusts any of the numbers.

“We can't prove ROI”

The board wants to know what marketing returned. The dashboards claim plenty, the bank account says less, and there's no defensible number in between.

“We can't find or hire the analytics staff”

Analysts, data scientists and data engineers are slow to hire and expensive to keep, and one hire rarely covers all three skill sets.

If any of these sound like your week, talk to us: send a message, or book a call straight away.

What we actually do

The concrete work behind the pillar, in plain terms.

GA4 property and GTM build

We build a clean GA4 property and Tag Manager container from a tracking plan, not a scatter of tags. Key events, Consent Mode and ad platform links go in from day one.

Consent Mode, done properly

We wire Consent Mode to your banner and test what GA4 collects before and after a consent choice. Getting this wrong either breaks compliance or silently drops your data.

Ecommerce and server-side tracking

Where you need it, we build purchase and checkout events that feed revenue into GA4, and server-side tagging for heavier ad spend. Neither is switched on by default; we scope it in on purpose.

Validation before you launch

We test every event, check nothing fires twice, and reconcile the numbers against your store or CRM before we call it done. You launch on tracking that has already been proved.

Why teams call us before anything is live

Most calls come before a launch, not after one. A new site is going live and nobody has planned what GA4 should measure. An old Universal Analytics setup is being replaced and nobody wants to repeat the mistakes of the first one. A paid campaign is about to spend real budget and the conversions it needs are not configured yet.

Sometimes a setup already exists but was never finished. A Tag Manager container has tags nobody understands, half wired to a GA4 property nobody validated. Consent Mode is missing or set up in a way that either breaks compliance or silently drops data. Ad platform links were never connected, so Google Ads and Meta cannot see the conversions marketing is paying for.

We build GA4 and Tag Manager for agency and in-house clients most weeks. The same three gaps come up almost every time: no tracking plan, no Consent Mode, no validation against a source of truth. A setup engagement closes all three before the site goes live, not after the numbers have misled somebody.

How a setup engagement runs

We start with a short scoping conversation. What do you sell or measure, what counts as a conversion, and which platforms need to see the data? We also check what already exists in GA4 and Tag Manager, if anything does. That becomes the tracking plan, the document that says what gets built before anyone touches the account.

From the plan we build the GA4 property and the Tag Manager container. We wire the events and key events that match how the business makes money. Consent Mode gets set up against your banner, so it collects correctly before and after a consent choice. Ad platform links go in at the same time, so Google Ads and Meta can see the conversions from day one.

Before we call it done, we test both consent states and fire every event to check it lands once. We reconcile the results against a source of truth, such as Shopify orders or CRM deals. You get the account back in your ownership, with documentation of what was built and why, and we walk your team through it.

Proof, not promises

A Shopify Checkout Extensibility upgrade broke a client's conversion tracking. We restored accurate tracking within 48 hours, avoiding an estimated $1.5M in wasted ad spend. That is the kind of failure a validated setup is built to catch before launch, not repair after a costly upgrade.

For ElevateJet, a private aviation client, 88.6% of deal contacts had no web attribution. We mapped their tracking end to end across three domains and their CRM. Every enquiry source became visible once the setup was built properly, and the marketing team could finally see which channels brought deals.

For Q Hotels Group, working through Connective3, we found duplicate purchase events inflating bookings across 16 hotels. Fixing the setup gave the group its first accurate property-level view of direct bookings.

We've set up hundreds of GA4 properties and Tag Manager containers for agency and in-house clients. The agencies hand the setups we build to their own clients, under their own name.

What a GA4 setup costs

We scope and quote every setup before work starts, so you know the number in advance. The quote depends on how many properties and platforms are involved. It also depends on whether Consent Mode needs to work across multiple regions, and whether ecommerce or server-side tracking is in scope. How much validation the launch needs plays a part too.

We do not publish a rate card. A single-site GA4 and Tag Manager build is a different job to a multi-domain setup feeding a CRM and several ad platforms. The scoping conversation is where we work out which one yours is.

What you get is a fixed scope agreed before anything is built, not an open-ended day rate. The quote states what is included, what you get back, and who owns it once we hand over.

Built for agencies, trusted by in-house teams

Agencies white-label us as their analytics arm. We build inside your client's GA4 and Tag Manager, under your brand. We hand you the documentation to show the client. The setup becomes something you can bill for, rather than something you were quietly absorbing.

In-house teams bring us in directly. Usually a launch is close and nobody has built GA4 and Consent Mode properly before. Sometimes paid media is about to spend against conversions that do not exist yet. We build the setup, explain it in plain terms, and leave your team able to run it.

Talk to us first

Tell us what you need tracked and by when. Send a short message with what you're building and what matters to you. Or book a 30 minute call straight away if you'd rather talk it through. A person reads every message and replies within one working day with a considered view. There is no account access and no sales call to sit through.

If something is already running and you want evidence of what's there before you talk to us, run your site through Sonar. It scans your site from outside, the way a visitor sees it. It reports the tags, pixels and consent setup it can prove are running. Bring the result to the conversation and we'll take it from there. </content>

In their words

What the teams we work with say

Agencies and in-house teams we plug into as their analytics bench, on what it's like to have us on the team.

Partnering with Dolphin Analytics resonates with us because it gives us extra capacity with heavily fluctuating demand in this current climate around new tracking implementation technologies. It's the offering of dealing with experts with a no-fuss approach. They're so valuable, solving our biggest pain points by providing on-demand expertise. In any agency setting there is always a lack of capacity for niche skilled expertise, and Dolphin Analytics provides that.
Alan Ng Chief Innovation Officer, Connective3 Marketing agency, 150 people
Working with Dolphin Analytics has been a pleasure. Olam and his team were brought on to help us work through client issues outside our usual area of operations. Their team worked seamlessly alongside Axon Garside for our clients. They led the project, identifying the solution swiftly, before developing the fix and completing the jobs rapidly. Dolphin Analytics' communication was great throughout, keeping my team updated. This is the beginning of a fruitful business relationship between both businesses.
Spencer Montagu Marketing Director, Axon Garside B2B marketing agency, 20 people
Olam and his team joined us when our product analytics was still in its infancy. Within weeks they'd resolved a host of issues with our Heap events and reports, giving us a much clearer picture of how customers used the platform. They then helped our product and UX team embed a framework for experimentation, so we could validate ideas and deliver value far more quickly: a real step change in how we build products. Olam is a genuine people person, and his collaborative approach was hugely appreciated. I extended the engagement numerous times and am hugely grateful for the change he helped enact.
Jack Levy Head of Product, Preqin In-house product team
Data can be complex and, more often, it is made unnecessarily so by the people within it. However, Dolphin Analytics' skill is in understanding what's possible, what's necessary, and making that easily understood and implemented. It's rare to have such consistently good and reliable data expertise, but Dolphin Analytics always delivers.
Dino Myers-Lamptey Managing Director, Mediahub Marketing agency, 500 people
Dolphin Analytics joined our team and quickly became a valuable asset that we wanted to extend onto other projects. They are able to think critically, stay solutions-oriented, and know how to work with others, bringing their expertise and point of view on data and analytics. Beyond the technical skill across various analytics tools, they have broad experience with different types of analysis, which makes them able to step up to different challenges.
Payam Cherchian Data & Analytics Director, AKQA (now EssenceMediacom) Web & design agency, 40 people
We turned to Dolphin Analytics when we had a data project we needed specialist input on. The team took time to understand our challenges, ambition and the nuances of our business to propose a bespoke solution. They broke down complex processes in a way we could communicate across our teams and clients to build into our roadmap.

Frequently asked questions

What does a GA4 setup service include?

We build your GA4 property and Google Tag Manager container from a tracking plan. We configure the events and key events that match how you make money, and wire Consent Mode to your banner. Ad platform links go in at the same time, and we test everything before you launch. You get the account back in your ownership, with documentation of what was built.

How is a GA4 setup different from an audit?

A setup builds tracking that does not exist yet, or replaces one you have decided to rebuild. An audit reviews tracking you already have, finds the faults and hands back a written report. If you are not sure which one you need, tell us what is going on when you talk to us. We will point you the right way.

Do we need a setup service, or can our team build it in-house?

Keep it in-house if someone already owns measurement and has built Consent Mode and Tag Manager before. Bring us in when nobody has done it end to end, or when paid media depends on clean conversions from launch. We're also the right call when a rushed first build would cost more to unpick later. We can build it and hand it back, or stay on as cover afterwards.

How much does a GA4 setup cost?

We scope and quote every setup before work starts, so the number is agreed up front. The quote depends on how many properties and platforms are involved. It also depends on whether Consent Mode needs to work across regions, and whether ecommerce or server-side tracking is in scope. We do not publish a rate card, because no two setups are the same size.

Can you build inside our agency's client accounts?

Yes. Agencies white-label us as their analytics arm, and we build inside your client's GA4 and Tag Manager under your brand. You keep the relationship and the invoice, and we hand you the documentation to show the client.

What do you need from us to start?

Access to GA4 and Google Tag Manager, plus a view of the platform you want reconciled, such as Shopify or your CRM. We also need one person who can answer questions about the site or app and approve the tracking plan before we build. The scoping conversation settles the access list and the plan together.

Do you handle Consent Mode and ad platform links as part of the setup?

Yes, both are standard parts of the build, not an add-on. We wire Consent Mode to your consent banner and test what data flows before and after a choice. We also connect Google Ads, Meta and any other platform that needs to see the conversions. Getting these two wrong is the most common way a new setup quietly breaks.
